Write the weekly report from raw numbers

Lesson 4 of 55 min read1 task · 3 questions

Numbers in. Five clear lines for your manager out. You check the maths.

The idea

A weekly update is the same shape every time: what happened, how it compares to last week, what is the risk, what is next. Give the AI the numbers and this shape.

Check the maths. Chatbots can add up numbers wrongly. Do a quick sum on your phone calculator, or ask the chatbot to show its working in one line.

Ask for plain words. Managers read on phones too. Short lines win.

Your task

Make a 5-line weekly update

Use the sample support numbers. Total closed this week should be 218.

Your slip: copy-paste prompt
Write a weekly update for my manager in exactly 5 lines.

Data (support requests closed per day this week): Monday 42, Tuesday 38, Wednesday 51, Thursday 47, Friday 40.
Last week's total: 205.

Lines to write:
1. Total closed this week and the daily average (1 decimal).
2. Change versus last week, in number and percent (1 decimal).
3. The busiest day.
4. One risk: Wednesday was heavy, so staffing may be thin on busy days.
5. Next step: review the staffing plan for peak days.

Show your working for the numbers in one short line at the end. Use plain words.

What you should get

A real example of a good result. Your wording will differ a little. The shape and the facts should match.

Printed resultExample

1. We closed 218 requests this week, an average of 43.6 per day.
2. That is 13 more than last week (205), up 6.3 percent.
3. The busiest day was Wednesday with 51 closed.
4. Risk: Wednesday was heavy, so staffing may be thin on busy days.
5. Next step: review the staffing plan for peak days.

Working: 42+38+51+47+40 = 218; 218/5 = 43.6; 218-205 = 13; 13/205 = 6.3%.
